Introduction to non directive play Therapy

Are you passionate about children’s wellbeing and counselling?

At The Play Therapies Centre we recognize the need for a stand alone training to support the growing demand for quality professional training courses for those who work with children in Northern Ireland.

We are very aware in the current climate of the difficulties faced when trying to obtain additional therapeutic support for a child.

Post Covid we are in the midst of rising mental health concerns in our youth which is being compounded by staggering resource cuts within the statutory and voluntary sectors.

This is why this training workshop equips practitioners who are not therapeutically qualified with essential, safe, 'soft skills' to support the emotional wellbeing and personal development of children, young people or adults in their care

Play is an important therapy to encourage healing in children and adults experiencing physical, mental or emotional trauma. Play therapy can improve mood, coping skills, problems solving, self-awareness, social skills and more. This course is ideal for health professionals, counsellors, teachers as well as parents.

You will learn about the neuroscience behind trauma and related specialist creative mediums, such as music, art, drama and dance as therapeutic tools with adults and children.

It is a highly experiential training whereby you will be fully immersed in practical hands on delivery.

On completion of this course, you will have a better awareness and understanding of the role of play therapy and how as a professional it could be incorporated within your work to support emotional wellbeing.

This can be booked as a one or two day option.
